Seats
The majority of 3 wheel double buggies are designed as single pushchairs. However, some can be converted to accommodate the second seat using adapters. You'll also find that some models allow you to add a ride-on board to older children who would like to walk but require some assistance.
Take a look at the Joie Evalite Duo for an ideal, lightweight solution for urban streets. It's easy to maneuver and comes with a deep basket that has plenty of storage space. It can hold twins as young as birth and accommodate two car seats or seats and a carrycot. The seats must be facing towards the front and there is no space to store bags of groceries under the seat. You will need an additional side bag.
If you're looking to take off-road trips then the Mountain Buggy Duet is a great option. It is a side by tandem with the slimmest footprint of any double buggy on the market. The phil&teds dots are brilliant single buggys that can be easily modified to accommodate two (or three!) in multiple configurations. This is especially helpful when you have a child in a car seat, because the frame can be fitted with a wedgie for optimum lying flat, or car seat adapters to various brands.
Suspension
The suspension of a triple wheeled buggy will determine how easy you and your child/children can push it. 3 wheel buggy is crucial to have a smooth ride, because babies can feel every bump in the road. This is especially true if you are driving on rough terrain like grass or roads that aren't paved. Certain models come with front tires that lock to aid in maneuvering and navigating obstacles like curbs.
Some models have air-filled tyres that are ideal for all-terrain riding, however they are susceptible to punctures. Make sure you keep an extra set of tyres in your trunk. MFM reviewer Kath took the Urban Glide 2 through its tests with her newborn and 3 years old son, and found it performed admirably on tricky terrain: "it navigated effortlessly over grass and bumpy pavements cobbles, dirt tracks and cobbles easily and was able to manoeuvre around corners and get up and down kerbs. Folding
A three-wheel double buggy folds pretty easily to store it. There are models that fold flat and stand up (as if they're in a pushchair position) as well as ones that pop out to reveal a more umbrella-like fold that has an electric brake. The more wheels a buggy has, in general the easier it will be to maneuver on rough terrain. This is particularly true if your wheels are larger than the typical size. You will have more stability, and it will be less likely that you will be forced to flip or tip your child.
